MEDIA RELEASE: Last Day to Request New Marriage Equality Form

19/10/2017

If your marriage equality form has been lost, stolen, damaged or never arrived, tomorrow (Friday) is the last day to request a replacement from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Federal Member for Newcastle Sharon Claydon urged Novocastrians who care about an equal and inclusive society to make sure their voices are heard.

"People who have changed address since the last election but haven't updated their details are very likely to have not received a form," Ms Claydon said.

"My office has also heard of isolated incidents of forms being stolen, so if this has happened to you, ordering a new form will invalidate the previous one."

Ms Claydon said she had seen incredible support from Novocastrians for the YES campaign.

"There's a real sense that the YES campaign is set for victory, but we mustn't be complacent," Ms Claydon said.

"Close to a third of people haven't submitted their surveys yet, so the outcome is far from guaranteed."

Ms Claydon said surveys need to be posted by next Friday 27 October to guarantee they are counted.

To order a replacement form or a Secure Access Code eligible Australians can visit https://marriagesurvey.abs.gov.au/ or call 1800 572 113 by 6pm Friday.
