A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will invest $3 million to enhance sports fields at Upper Reserve in Wallsend, ensuring that local sporting teams and community members in the western suburbs have access to high-quality facilities all year round.
Federal Member for Newcastle Sharon Claydon today welcomed Leader of the House, Tony Burke MP to Wallsend to make the announcement.
The funding will go towards installing much-needed drainage and irrigation, as well as improvements to the car park.
These upgrades are designed to address the significant challenges and interruptions for local sports caused by wet weather and subsequent ground closures. Ensuring better field conditions for the growing number of local sporting clubs, schools, and recreational users in the area, is a priority for the Labor Government.
Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
