The Albanese Labor Government is focused on strengthening Medicare – because access to healthcare should depend on your Medicare card, not your credit card. 

I know access to a bulk billing doctor is particularly hard in Newcastle; we have some of the lowest rates of bulk billing in the country and many of you have called my office or written to me about this issue. 

On 1 November 2023, we tripled of the bulk billing incentive – the largest investment in the 40-year history of Medicare, making it cheaper for kids, pensioners and concession card holders to see a doctor.
